Ghost Grabber collects nothing about you while you use it. It has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and the files you make stay on your Mac. The only personal information we ever hold is what you give us when you buy a license.

This policy covers the Ghost Grabber app for Mac and the website you are reading. It is published by Society Sound LLC of Atlanta, Georgia (“Society Sound”, “we”, “us”).

What the app does on your Mac

You paste a link, and the app fetches it and saves the result as a file. Everything happens on your Mac:

• Files are saved to your Downloads folder, or to the folder you choose in Settings.
• Your settings, such as your chosen look, format and folder, are stored on your Mac.
• Your 7-day trial's start date and, once you buy, your license key are stored on your Mac, in the Keychain.
• The app has no user accounts and does not include analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.

Who the app connects to

The app makes network connections for two reasons only:

• The link you paste. The app downloads directly from the site that link points to. That site sees the request as it would any download, including your IP address, and handles it under its own privacy policy.
• Engine updates, only when you ask. If you press “Check for update”, the app contacts GitHub to check for and download the latest version of yt-dlp, its download engine.

Checking your trial or license key makes no network call: it happens entirely on your Mac, against a key built into the app. Nothing about you, your links or your files is sent to Society Sound.

When you try Ghost Grabber free

Starting a free trial asks for your email. Trial signups get the download link, a reminder before the trial ends, and occasional emails about Ghost Grabber (updates, tips and deals). Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of them.

When you buy Ghost Grabber

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. From your purchase we receive your name, email address, country and what you bought, and we use them to:

• email you your license key,
• answer your support questions,
• tell you when there is a new version of the app you bought, which you can opt out of from any of those emails,
• keep the records that tax and accounting law require.

This website

Our pages are hosted by Squarespace and the download by Cloudflare. Like any host, they may set cookies and keep standard logs and visitor statistics, such as IP address, time and page requested, to run and secure the site, under their own privacy policies. The Ghost Grabber pages add no advertising or tracking scripts of their own.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it except with Stripe to process your payment, or when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and delete them after that. Your email address stays on the buyer list until you opt out, so we can send you your download link again and tell you about new versions.

Your choices

Email us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. We will do it, apart from records the law requires us to keep.

Children

Ghost Grabber is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.

Terms of Service

Use Ghost Grabber only for links you have the right to download. Try it free for 7 days, no card; after that, a $6.99 license key unlocks it. Your license key is personal — one per buyer, please don't share it. Because it's a digital purchase, all sales are final, but you get to try it first.

These terms are an agreement between you and Society Sound LLC of Atlanta, Georgia (“Society Sound”, “we”, “us”). By buying, installing or using Ghost Grabber (“the app”), you agree to them.

Trial

Ghost Grabber runs free for 7 days from first launch, with every format unlocked and no card required. After the trial, converting requires a valid license key.

Your license

When you buy the app, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license, unlocked with a license key, to install and use it on Macs you own or control. Your license key is for you alone: one per buyer, so please don't share it. You may not resell, rent, redistribute or share the app, its installer, or your license key, and you may not remove its notices or pass it off as your own.

Only download what you have the right to

The app saves media from links you provide. It does not host, provide or supply any content itself. You may use it only for material you own, material you have permission to download, or material you are otherwise legally allowed to download.

• You are solely responsible for what you download and for how you use it.
• You must follow the terms of the sites you download from, and copyright law where you live.
• Do not use the app to infringe anyone’s rights.

Ghost Grabber is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of the sites it works with.

Sites change

The app depends on how other sites work, and they change without notice. A site that works today may stop working tomorrow. The app’s “Check for update” button fetches the latest download engine, which usually restores it, but we can’t promise that any particular site will keep working.

Updates

We may release updates to the app. We’re not obliged to, and an update may change or remove features.

All sales are final

Ghost Grabber is a digital purchase, and you get a 7-day free trial to try it before you buy. Once a license key is delivered, we don’t offer refunds, except where the law where you live requires one. If the app won’t install or run on a supported Mac (macOS 12 or later), email us and we’ll help you get it working.

Open-source components

The app includes open-source software that is licensed separately, under its own terms, including FFmpeg (GNU LGPL v2.1 or later), LAME (GNU LGPL), yt-dlp and Deno. The license texts are in the Licenses folder that comes with the installer. For at least three years after you receive the app, we will provide the complete corresponding source code of the included FFmpeg and LAME on request, at no charge. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licenses.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that it will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Society Sound is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Ending your license

Your license ends automatically if you break these terms. If it ends, you must stop using the app and delete it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date at the top. The terms that apply are the ones in place when you use the app.
